Karma Kagyu Study Course Discussion Group - Year 1
***Registration will close Monday, March 24th.***
Join a three-year cohort of dedicated practitioners for a Discussion Group exploring Khenpo Ken Holmes' acclaimed Nangi Shedra Karma Kagyu Home Study Course. This is a unique chance to engage deeply with the teachings of the Karma Kagyu lineage while also supporting a charitable mission.
Facilitated by Lama Adam Berner with assistance from Lama Kathy Wesley as a fundraiser for Mindfulness For Life, this program offers a rare opportunity for lay practitioners to journey through an extended course of study, sharing questions and insights with each other, and discussing how the teachings apply to everyday life. Current participants have raved about the program’s impact on their understanding and practice of Kagyu teachings in our modern cultural context.
What Makes This Program Special?
Thorough and Cohesive Study Materials: The Nangi Shedra course systematically guides students through 30 modules (10 per year), expertly curated by Khenpo Ken Holmes, covering essential teachings from past and present masters of the Karma Kagyu lineage.
Community Connection: Each month, participants meet virtually for lively, engaging discussions that bring the teachings to life.
Support for a Charitable Cause: While the Nangi Shedra course materials are now freely available thanks to Khenpo Ken, your annual contribution supports Mindfulness For Life, Lama Adam’s nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing free, trauma-informed mindfulness training to underserved communities and their caregivers.
Details:
Start Date: The first reading will arrive via email on Losar, February 28, 2025.
Time Commitment: Readings take approximately 2-5 hours per month, and can be done at your convenience. Students have about 4 weeks to complete the reading before each month’s 75-minute discussion group.
First Meeting: Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 7 PM Eastern Time via Zoom.
Ongoing Meetings: Last Wednesday of each month (no meetings in August or December).
Annual contribution: The yearly contribution supports Mindfulness For Life’s charitable mission.
Sponsorship and financial hardship options:
If you have the means, please select the “Patron” or “Benefactor” option when you register, which may allow someone of lesser financial resources to join our cohort and further supports our charitable work.
If the annual contribution is a hurdle to your participation, please email Lama Adam at adam@lamaadam.com to inquire about sponsorship. Depending on the generosity of donors, free or reduced cost access may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in a community studying one of the most well-structured Karma Kagyu curriculums available, while also supporting a mission to positively impact underserved communities through mindful practice!
