Who uses Mindfulnesss For Life?

We partner with local governments, civic organizations, places of worship, and other groups that want to offer free mindfulness and meditation training to their communities.

What is the format of the program?

Our core program is a series of four 45-minute sessions. In-person, virtual, and hybrid formats are available, depending on the needs of the community, and individual coaching may also be an option.

Why mindfulness and meditation?

Meditation can establish a sense of calm, clarity, and balance that benefits both our emotional well-being and our overall health. This inner transformation reflects outward as an increased sense of control and workability when meeting challenges, and a richer experience of life’s rewards.

How is it funded?

We are funded entirely by the generosity of donors who recognize the value of safe, effective mindfulness and meditation training to the health and harmony of our communities.

Curriculum Overview

Class 1: Identifying Attention and Imbalance

It all begins simply, with noticing when we are paying attention and when we are distracted.

To help you identify attention we introduce a variety of supports so you choose those that work best for you.  Some people prefer working with breath, some with sound, physical sensations, and so on. To help identify imbalance we introduce mindful gauges so you know when it’s OK to lean into the practice, or when it’s time to shift attention or take a break.

Class 2: Placing Attention

Placing the attention extends our ability to let the mind rest in one place for a period of time. This way we learn to reduce the habit of reactivity to every stimulus we encounter.  We begin to notice things without feeling compelled to react to them, which can create a greater sense of spaciousness and power in our experience.

Class 3: Recognizing Stories

So often, our minds seem to wander.  We worry about what’s going to happen in the future. We repeat (to ourselves and to others) things that happened in the past.  Even in the present, we keep a commentary on what’s happening.

According to neurologists, strong emotions in the brain and body last about 90 seconds.  We help you to more easily recognize when you are inadvertently extending the life-span of those negative emotions. Breaking the habit of mindless story-telling fosters a more genuine connection with the world.

Class 4: Positive Collaboration

We often think of collaboration as between people, but this is just one aspect.  Mindfulness and meditation help us meet each situation just as it is, laying the groundwork for a collaborative approach to our reality. This can increase our sense of preparedness and skill in any situation, making our entire world more workable.
